Every show is a new opportunity to learn. From the moment a project is confirmed, each one becomes a challenge, and with every show, you take something with you. If you stay open, that knowledge becomes what helps you grow and thrive in this industry.
Here’s what we’ve learned on the road.
First, and most important, communication is everything.
If you don’t communicate, things fall apart... fast. Clear, assertive communication with your team and the local crew can make a huge difference. It saves time, prevents mistakes, and keeps everything moving. Knowing when to speak up, raising your hand early, and always maintaining respect and professionalism are essential to hitting your timelines. Good communication it’s what keeps the whole operation alive.
Adaptability is non-negotiable. Once you’re on site, things don’t always go as planned and that’s part of the job. You need to be ready to pivot at any moment to make the show happen. Having a plan A (and B, C, and D) can be the difference between stress and control. Think ahead, have backups, and don’t freeze when things shift. Not everything will go wrong, but some days will test you, be ready. The show doesn’t wait.
You’re only as strong as your team.
Live shows don’t happen alone. They require a group of people with different roles, perspectives, and rhythms working toward the same goal. It’s not always easy, everyone has their own world outside the show but finding a way to work together is key. Stay empathetic, but always professional.
Stay calm, no matter what.
When things go wrong (and sometimes they will), staying calm is your biggest advantage. A clear mind helps you see the bigger picture, make better decisions, and act faster. Chaos only creates more chaos. Control the moment, don’t let it control you.
And one more thing: learn English.
It will make your life on tour significantly easier. No matter where you are, being able to communicate clearly opens doors and helps everything run smoother.
Every show is a chance to learn. Stay open, stay curious, and learn from every person you meet along the way.
